The question’s been popped, you’ve celebrated, you’ve even set a date, and now you’re getting fit for the wedding but there’s one important detail that will allow all the others to fall in line: the venue. You’ll need a place that speaks to your personal style and fits your budget. In an area like San Francisco, there are options aplenty, but we’ve done some footwork for you and come up with this list of unique wedding venues to make your day most memorable. While we’ve included a couple in San Francisco, most are short drive outside of the city. That short drive will take you to several venues that are more cost effective and, in most cases, picture perfect.

A landmark in Santa Rosa, the DeTurk Round Barn was built in 1891 as a horse stable by Isaac DeTurk who was one of the country’s first winery owners. After a 2011 renovation, the DeTurk Round Barn has become the ideal setting for a wedding and reception. For booking information, visit the DeTurk Round Barn on the website of the City of Santa Rosa (the venue is managed by the City’s Department of Recreation & Parks).

This historical neighborhood house has served the Potrero Hill neighborhood since 1922 when it opened. Today, the house, affectionately known as “the Nabe”, works to further its mission “to serve those most in need from the cradle to the grave with an emphasis on youth and education.” It is also a lovely setting for a quaint wedding, right in the city with reasonable rates. Learn more about their rates and policies and about their organization on the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House website.

If unconventional is your vibe, Coffee Bar is your venue. A fully functioning coffee house during the day, the space transforms beautifully to a modern event space that allows outside catering and beverages. This venue will work well for both a small ceremony and reception or just the reception, it’s versatile and, of course, smells of delicious coffee! You can visit their website for more information about Coffee Bar, but for best results on venue information, visit them on EventUp.

Another historic venue, this one is in San Rafael and is owned and operated by the City of San Rafael which means it is affordable! Better yet, though, it is a stunning historic home that is listed on the National Historic Register. The Falkirk Cultural Center, a 19th century country estate and Queen Anne Victorian, was built in 1888. The second owner of the house had descendants living in the estate until 1970. By 1974 its fate looked grim, but it was saved from demolition and today, is glorious. Learn more and schedule a tour at Falkirk Cultural Center.

A little further north in the foothills of Hopland, Red Barn Ranch is an ideal, Pinterest-worthy site for a rustic yet elegant wedding. Expertly manicured grounds that were once grazing pastures, the peaceful environment will make you want to leave the city behind! Visit their website to view more photos, learn about the venue, and pricing: Red Barn Ranch.
