Start The New Year Right

If you want to start the new year right, you need to create a plan to achieve your fitness resolution. The woman you want to be is inside you waiting for you to release her. All you have to do is take the first step and decide what you want. Then it’s time to take the first step and make changes in your life. You do have to do something that will move you toward your goal. If weight loss is one of your goals, You can start with an exercise program combined with healthier eating.

You don’t have to spend hours on your goal, but you do have to spend some time each day.

Whether you want a new physical appearance that includes a toner body, lower weight and overall good health or just want to improve your health, doing something everyday to achieve that goal is ultimately important. Preparing healthy snacks to substitute for the mid morning and mid afternoon binges at the snack machine at work or the counter of the gas station can be a start. Exercising on a regular basis another.

Learn to make small changes for big results.

You’d be amazed at how much difference making small changes can make. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator or parking further away from the store front instead of circling endlessly until you find a closer spot not only saves energy, but helps burn off excess pounds. You can exercise everywhere. Start by carrying your groceries if you only have a few bags or use the cart and carry some if you have more. Eventually, you’ll work up to heavier weights, but the entire time, you’ll be burning more calories.

Find ways to save calories making substitutions.

There are many simple tricks to help you lose weight that don’t really require a lot of effort. Try to do one of these each day that you’re not exercising. For instance, if you’re making rice with dinner or eating in a restaurant, choose wild rice over white rice, since it’s lower in calories. Don’t give up backed potatoes, but use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream as a topping. There are many substitutions you can make that save a few calories, but they all add up and are painless.

Take one day at a time. Don’t worry about sticking to the plan the whole week,month or year. Just make sure you do one thing every day and you’ll see results.

Learn to love the body you have. You won’t get another one, so love it like it is and learn to make it better with exercise and healthy eating.

Enjoy moving. That may sound silly, but it’s not. Really feel your muscles move and you’ll realize just what a miracle the body is. The more you move, the more you can move. It keeps you going for years.

Have fun. No matter what your goal, it should be a challenge to reach it, but still fun. Make it a game and enjoy seeing the difference. Don’t scold yourself if you slip up, but correct your course and continue toward success.
