Happy Friday Ascenders! How’s it going today?
We are right in the thick of our “Rise Up to the New You 30-Day Challenge”. One big part of the challenge is learning about nutrition and preparing healthier recipes. Today we’re using an ingredient you might have heard of, but never tasted: the Shirataki devils tongue from Japan and East China, also known as the miracle noodle.
The Shirataki root is mostly used in certain types of flour. What makes this root so special? Well, the root is free of gluten, very low in calories, and high in hydrophilic starch. We won’t delve into the biochemistry of starch, but we will tell you to drink a lot of water when you eat the devils tongue in order to better digest the starch.
Cool stuff, right? In Asia you can find Shirataki in many healthy recipes. So today let’s create our own gluten free, healthy noodles? Here it comes: The spicy version of gluten free noodles.
7 oz of Shiritaki noodles
7 oz of shrimps (frozen or fresh)
1 teaspoon of olive oil
Optional: Some zucchini and carrot slices
