Pump(kin) Smoothie

October is nearly over. But before turning on your slow winter mode, it’s Halloween and pumpkin time!

Scary creatures, but even more important: Sweets and candies. Who doesn’t love them? Yeah, we do too, but as with everything all has it’s time. Don’t stress out if you catch yourself reaching into the bag full of those delicious little candies.

When you’re stressed, you can’t burn fat and the industrial sugar in candy makes it even worse. But the biggest problem with these candies that you miss the minerals and vitamins to digest the sugars correctly. So what’s the solution?

Use the autumn time and get some pumpkin before you get your sugars to make sure to get your vitamin and mineral intake. You don’t have to be a chef to prepare it, all you need is a blender and some good stuff for your body. What are you waiting for? Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (approximate) organic pumpkin, canned or fresh baked
  • 1 small or 1/2 regular/large tart apple
  • Protein powder of choice (vanilla works best with this recipe)
  • 1-2 teaspoons pure vanilla
  • 1-2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • Handful of greens if you wish—baby kale, spinach, chard, etc.
  • Coconut milk (as much as you wish)
  • 1 Tbsp of coconut oil

 

Preparation

  1. Mix in blender until smooth, add milk until desired consistency. Add a few ice cubes if you like it cold.
