Power Mushrooms

power mushrooms

It’s always surprising to us to see how many people don’t pay attention to getting the right vitamins and minerals in their diet. Often times, people get lost in the forest of macros (think protein, carbs and fat), and forget to pay attention to the trees. To be clear: Yes, we need fats and protein. BUT- and this is a big but, we also need minerals and vitamins for our bodies to function optimally. Or to function at all. So, what do we need to eat besides the all important eggs, fat, fish and sweet potatoes?  Veggies. Tons of veggies.

Mushrooms are the perfect choice! Not only do they have a rich, savory taste (for those who are curious, that taste is called umami), but they are also rich in vitamins and minerals. Mushrooms contain every vitamin except vitamin B12, which you need to get from animal products. They are especially rich in B1, a vitamin that help digest natural sugars, and B3, which is necessary to produce energy inside your body. So lets review: vitamins help us digest our food and maintain our energy.

Another cool thing about mushrooms is that they’re rich in potassium. These days, we find sodium in a lot of food. But potassium is often forgotten. This is a problem because the right balance of sodium and potassium help balance the pressure in your cells so nutrients can flow the right way. Without this balance your cells would lose their structure and die.

We weren’t kidding when we said vitamins and minerals are important. Luckily, we came up with this delicious ‘power mushrooms’ recipe to help power up your body, and your life. #BREATHESWEATSMILE
