Viva Mexico! If you’ve ever been to San Francisco’s Mission District, you’ve probably noticed the that there are taquerias on almost every block. And one thing you can always find in a traditional taqueria is..TACOS! Mmmm, tacos. Who doesn’t love them? If you look at what’s inside those delicious little tortillas, you’ll find that most taco ingredients are pretty healthy. Generally, those ingredients include beans, meat, avocado and some veggies. The main nutritional problem here is not the tortilla, because you can always swap corn for wheat tortillas (to avoid gluten), the issue is not knowing where all the ingredients come from.
Compared to other fast food, tacos are a pretty cheap deal in SF. However it is always important to remember one thing: When the cost of a product is low, then the ingredients may not be of good quality. Which means the food might be cheap in the present, but that feeding your body low quality ingredients can cause disease and cost a lot more money in long term.
