After February’s summery start, the sudden cold in San Francisco makes us long for warmer temperatures… (Though it’s still warmer here than in my homeland Germany!) Anyways, let’s heat ourselves up with this awesome post-workout vegan meal! You can easily whip this baby up; it’s tasty and will definitely warm you from the inside out.
For the record, I was a vegan for two years. However, despite our collective illusion that being vegan is the healthier option, it’s not a solution that works for everybody. I felt great eating a fully plant based diet, but after doing a blood test, I figured out that being vegan is not the right option for me.
The best advice that anyone can give you is to figure out what your body really needs. Let’s think about our ancestors. Whether they came from Italy, Brazil, Nigeria, or Germany ;), they were probably healthier because they ate whole, unprocessed foods. This approach fits both the Paleo and vegan philosophies. And this recipe is a perfect combination of both.
For my vegans and veggie lovers out there, this tasty recipe will perk you up after a workout and restore the energy in your muscle cells. It also comes with a whole lot of warm looooove.
800 ml almond milk
200 g rice pudding (uncooked)
100 ml filtered water
a few coconut flakes
stevia and cinnamon
